New York: The book “Road to America: Immigration Hardship”, the first publication by renowned immigration attorney and community leader Moin Choudhury , was officially unveiled at a distinguished ceremony attended by U.S. Congresswoman Grace Meng and many prominent figures from politics, judiciary, media, and the Bangladeshi-American community. The book launch event was held on Tuesday evening, December 23, at Nobanno Party Hall in Jackson Heights, in a warm and vibrant atmosphere. Speakers at the event described the book as an important resource for immigrants in the United States, highlighting how it documents real-life challenges and offers practical legal guidance for navigating the immigration system. They praised Attorney Moin Choudhury’s initiative and long-standing commitment to immigrant communities.
Attorney Moin Choudhury is a leader of the Queens Democratic Party and currently serves as a Director of the American Bar Association. Among the distinguished guests were Congresswoman Grace Meng, Queens County Justice Cassandra A. Johnson, New York City Supreme Court Justices Carmen Velasquez and Sandra Munoz, Acting Justice of Queens Criminal Court Edwin Novillo, State Assembly Members David Weprin and Steven Raga, Rob Chowdhury, Board Director of the New York City Association of Realtors, former State Assemblyman Michael Dandeker, attorneys Michael Taub, and Bir Muktijoddha Mukit Chowdhury, among others.
Community leaders who delivered congratulatory remarks included Najmul Ahsan, Editor of Weekly Porichoy; Akbar Haider Kiron, journalist of Voice of America; Dr. Wajed A. Khan, Editor of Weekly Bangladesh; Ibrahim Chowdhury Khokon, Editor of Weekly Prothom Alo; Manowarul Islam, President of New York Bangladesh Press Club; Mohammad Ali, General Secretary of Bangladesh Society; former General Secretary Fakhrul Alam; Advocate Nasir Uddin, President of Medina Mosque; Hasanuzzaman Saki, Shah Ahmed, community activist Kazi Azam, business leader Hasanuzzaman Hasan, CPA Mohammad Chishti, actor Tariqul Islam Mithu, and several others.
Also present were Mary Zobaida, a candidate for Assembly District 36, and members of Attorney Chowdhury’s family, including his son Ronald Chowdhury, niece Samia Chowdhury, and Ishat Chowdhury. The event was hosted by Sonia Siraj. In his welcome speech, Attorney Moin Choudhury said that the book was inspired by his long professional experience working with immigration law and immigrant hardships. He expressed hope that the book would serve as a practical guide and raise awareness among both new and existing immigrants.
Speakers unanimously praised the book as a significant documentation of the struggles, legal complexities, and resilience of immigrants in the United States, while also acknowledging Moin Choudhury’s enduring contributions to community service. The event concluded with the official unveiling of the English-language book “Road to America: Immigration Hardship” followed by a cake-cutting ceremony. A large number of Bangladeshi expatriates attended the program.
