Songs of Earth
Pamelia Riviere
The dawn of Earth commenced with a breathtaking orchestral piece,
Born amidst the thunderous echoes of the Big Bang,
She embarks on her eternal, mysterious journey,
A jester who dares to proclaim that music is forbidden!
This Earth is an enchanting symphony; here, every element sways,
And twirls to the captivating rhythm of beauty and harmony,
Where fierce fire meets delicate ice,
Birthing countless new melodies that resonate through time!
Tender winter snow descends softly upon ancient oak trees,
As morning greets night,
The delicate flurries cocoon my vibrant yellow and crimson roses,
Marigolds, geraniums, hydrangea and snow peas!
Their faces hidden beneath the frosty embrace,
Remain untouched by the world above,
Veiled in winter’s quiet hold,
A concerto of birds fills the air with their delightful chirps, tweets, and warbles!
In the early dawn, a little red cardinal flutters in my backyard garden,
Her sweet tweets, “cheer, cheer, cheer" a heavenly song, beckoning me,
Peering inquisitively through my window,
I found my heart captured in that tender moment!
The Lake Ontario roars majestically like a lioness,
Her waves crashing rhythmically over smooth pebbles,
I listen to the haunting lullabies of the singing ice in the twilight,
Her calming sounds cradle me in serene solace each morning, bestowing mental peace!
The memories of enthralling, lush green grain fields beckon me through the ether,
My ears resonate with their soothing wind blowing melody,
Snow peas call out softly, promise to return in the following spring,
Their whispers weave hope through the air,
I turn towards them, filled with renewed aspirations!
The azure sky weeps softly at my impending departure,
Winds swirl gracefully through the forest,
Dancing from east to south, then west to north,
Nature's soft music plays on, a tender serenade!
Alas! A clown claims that singing a song is a sin,
This beautiful Earth is a captivating masterpiece,
She offers me a final farewell, with a divine benediction of care,
And plays a heart-wrenching sonata, songs of earth!
